•The Young State of Texas•
This incredible large old map of Texas was taken created by Colton from the famous 1849 map by Juan de Cordova. It is a highly detailed look at this young state in the years prior to its Civil War secession in 1861. It shows the areas geographic features, roads, proposed railroads, forts, cities and towns. Counties are delineated in hand applied pastel colors (the western portion of the state had only 4 large counties - and few people). The panhandle, Sabine lake and Galveston Bay are shown inset. The original of this map is becoming increasingly difficult to find and the price has been rising steadily.
